The Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI) is a free, first-step family literacy program for adults and their children based at public libraries throughout Rhode Island. RIFLI offers English as a Second Language (ESL), citizenship preparation and computer instruction as well as children's programming, student resource support and links to library resources and services.

RIFLI is pleased to announce that 21 English as a Second Language (ESL), citizenship preparation, computer, book discussion and workplace communication classes are successfully underway in Cranston, East Providence, Pawtucket, Providence and West Warwick. RIFLI Receives $145,000 Grant from the RI Department of Education
July 2007: RIFLI is one of 38 community-based agencies throughout Rhode Island that provide adult education programs to be awarded a RIDE grant this year. The RIFLI grant, to be used during the 2007 – 08 academic year, represents an increase of $54,000 over what the program received from the State last year and is a seven-fold increase in the amount the program received initially in 2001.
