The Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI) is a free, first-step family literacy program for adults and their children based at public libraries throughout Rhode Island. RIFLI offers English as a Second Language (ESL), citizenship preparation and computer instruction as well as children's programming, student resource support and links to library resources and services.

RIFLI is a Winner, Too! In March 2012, RIFLI was notified that we are one of three organizations nation-wide chosen for a National Center for Family Literacy/Better Books Award. The award of $10,000 will be used for outreach for the Providence Public Library to non-native English speakers by identifying, training and utilizing immigrant parents as "Discovery Guides".
