The Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI) is a free, first-step family literacy program for adults and their children based at public libraries throughout Rhode Island. RIFLI offers English as a Second Language (ESL), citizenship preparation and computer instruction as well as children's programming, student resource support and links to library resources and services.
RIFLI has enrolled 194 learners from 41 countries in 16 classes for 2011-12. New students are being accepted in January 2012. If you are interested in enrolling, call 401-455-8041. Schedule.
Thanks to KPMG for visiting the Auburn Library in Cranston on December 12th, 2011 and providing recorded storybooks for the children. A special highlight was Wilson, a Portuguese waterdog, who provided lots of excitement and interest for the children.
